The short version

Sweep is a desktop application. It runs on your computer and talks directly to Google. We operate no server that receives, stores, or processes your email.

What the app accesses

When you sign in with Google, you grant the app permission to read and modify your Gmail (the gmail.modify scope). The app uses it to:

The app does not read the body of your emails or send email. It moves mail to Gmail’s Trash only when you apply a rule that says so; Gmail itself permanently deletes Trash after 30 days, and you can undo before then.

Where data lives

Plain-English rules (optional)

This feature is off unless you add your own Anthropic API key in the app. If you do, the sentence you type to describe a rule is sent to Anthropic, using your key, so it can draft the rule. Your email, senders, and subjects are never sent. Your key is encrypted with your operating system’s keychain and you can remove it at any time.

Unsubscribing

If you choose to unsubscribe from a sender, the app sends a request directly from your computer to the web address the sender published in its email, or opens that page or a pre-filled email for you.

Google API Services disclosure

Sweep’s use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Data from Gmail is used only to provide the user-facing features described above, is not used for advertising, and is not transferred to others.
